Funke Akindele your excellency
Funke Akindele’s directorial debut, ‘Your Excellency’ is set to hit cinemas in December and the excitement for the movie’s release has been turned up a notch with a promotional campaign featuring some of the cast.

An official poster for the feature film, a social-media-driven political comedy, features Akin Lewis as Chief Olalekan Ajadi, Funke Akindele-Bello as his wife, Kemi, and some of Nollywood’s most popular actors, including Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, Alexx Ekubo, Oreka Godis, Osas Ighodaro, Bimbo Manuel, Deyemi Okanlawon and Ini Dima-Okojie.
‘Your Excellency’ tells the story of a bumbling, billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who becomes a credible contender – all through the power of social media. As the drama unfolds, it seems possible that even a perpetual loser, written off by everyone, can pose a serious challenge for the presidency.

Flag'IT App now Available on Google Playstore after Public and Media Launch on Thursday

16:44 Instanaija Blog 0 Comments

The anti-Corruption app, Flag'IT is now available for download on Google playstore.
The application, which can be downloaded here, enables citizens to report and to document their experiences around corruption as well as capture evidence of corrupt practices by public officers.
The foundation said it also enables Nigerians to “engage with government officials on issues bordering on service delivery”.
In March, Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said at least N1.3 trillion public funds was diverted between 2011 and 2015, while corruption in the power sector alone has reportedly gulped N11 trillion since 1999.
At the launch which was held in Abuja on Thursday, Fadeyi, executive director of the foundation, said the application was designed to enable the opening up of government institutions for transparency and accountability.
ALERT: You can now report any corrupt public officer through FLAG’IT app
Fadeyi, who was represented by Simon Kolawole, founder of Cable Newspaper and chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, said the application is the latest of their advocacy innovations to “empower Nigerians to demand accountability, transparency and excellent service delivery”.
He said the innovation, which involves partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), also enables Nigerians to document their positive stories about “outstanding public officers and excellent service delivery”.
“At the Akin Fadeyi Foundation, we have set a goal to ensure that Nigeria becomes that country where everyone lives fulfilling life and are able to utilise their human and social capital to the full extent,” he said.
“For every naira that is stolen, there is a negative impact on the society. We are aware that the culture of corruption has become so endemic and difficult to tackle.
“If we must end it, we must start by talking to the man in the mirror and ask, ‘what is my role in defeating corruption and rebuilding the Nigerian nation of our dream.”

Fear Grips as FG Considers Plan to Increase Fuel Price in 2020

Apparently, the Federal Government under President Buhari has been making efforts to raise revenues since the recent drop in Oil prices. They have announced plans to toll many Federal roads even though the roads are bad, they have also considered raising taxes on data, calls and text messages.
The latest scoop in town is that Fuel prices could also be increased next year since the burden of fuel subsidies has been quite heavy and daunting.
While the scoop has been trending for a few days, this is the recent post from a former Presidential aspirant during the last election, Mr Mattias Tsado on Facebook
Nigerian government is planning to increase the price of PETROL as the scarcity of funds bites hard, all seem not to be well with the APC led federal government as the reports coming out indicates that the administration is considering various options to raise funds to keep the government running.
Several options seem to be on the table of the president who is currently confused as even the international community is not keen to lend money to the government due to what is perceived to be a debt crisis considering the recent addition of about N15tr to our debt profile in 4years and the growing concerns about the value of oil in the near future.
Recall that the government has proposed an increase in VAT and recently also initiated conversation around the introduction of toll gate fees, all these give credence to the fact that the government is struggling with income especially as the talk of minimum wage of N30,000 takes center stage.
One thing however remains interesting in all of these and that is the fact that the government is not willing to consider reducing their allowances and wastage in government to save money for the country.
If everything goes as proposed by some people in government, Nigerians should prepare to pay nothing less than N175 per litre of petrol, the implication of this is better imagined.
While the government is struggling to pay N30,000 minimum wage, South Africa has just announced the new minimum wage equivalent to N126,000, leaders of the called giant of Africa should bury their heads in shame.
Rwanda has just launched a complete Mobile phone manufacturing company without so much political propaganda, but our president thinks wealth creation is a problem yet he intends to lift 100m out of poverty.
Its important to remind our leaders that politics of empty talks won't take us anywhere,
In the last 4month Nigeria has added 3m people to abject poverty group, and by year 1030 every 1 out of 4 poor people would be from Nigeria that is a whooping 25%.
         This is very embarrassing.
I call on the government to take urgent creative measures to forestall this imminent disaster.
NB. A political office holder does not pay for anything in Nigeria, everything is paid for with taxpayers money.
Signed

Has #ThePlatForm Truly Outlived its Relevance ?

Image result for the platform october 1 2019
Happy Independence Day Nigerians, I hope we will at some points in our journey as a Nation become truly independent.

So I noticed that a lot of people were not really interested in the Platform event to commemorate Nigeria's independence, forcing people to ask if the programme is really worth the hype, considering that its just a stage where people discuss ideas that those in power do not make use of.

Some commentators have also opined that the frequent presence of Mr Peter Obi has gotten Nigerians bored, the enthusiasm that followed his appearance and speech two years ago has disappeared.

Here are some of the comments regarding The Platform 2019

Year after year Poju Oyemade organises #ThePlatform. Guests come & share solutions that won't even be implemented by many of the people who propose them in their own small space. What Nigeria needs is people who CAN & WILL DO! Enough of the talking already. #ThePlatform2019

Today, the best of the best will gather at the covenant center for #ThePlatform and they will be speaking on 'Redesigning the Economy with new ideas'. As usual, the people will clap and tweet about all ideas from the key note speakers. Will those ideas be implemented? NO

Peter Obi is making this program boring, he said all of these during Presidential debate before #ThePlatform

Obioma Okezie I was telling someone that Peter Obi shouldn't have been on that podium, this year. It whittled down his ovation, he should have taken a Break.

Temitope Olatimehin I stopped attending a long time ago. I religiously attended for a while when it started. Na action remain, we know all the talks.

Calvin Anadio Lawan LOL majority, sadly, are taken away by talk, talk and more talk. Why do you think our churches are always full to the brim but we are one of the most godless people on earth? We love the talks. If we'd only follow Jesus' footsteps as captured in Acts 1:1 after all that He began to DO and to teach..

Andy Akhigbe Abiola Iyiola There is nothing accountable about The Platform. It's anachronistic and self-serving. I said this last year and I am saying it even more forcefully this year.

Daniel Oshiame And to think so much is spent just to organise the program...this year it was done twice...imagine the millions spent with nothing to show for it...such funds will better be utilized in setting up a Sociopolitical think tank in a University that helps to build future leaders, thinkers and entrepreneurs. Spending millions just to gather people together for purposeless talk is complete waste of scarce funds

Niyi Eludire I wrote on a thread concerning Soludo that “they should go and sit down. They only have their senses when they are out of government”, one guy called me several names. I said nobody would’ve ever expected that our Pastor Professor would’ve been the one sharing tradermoni anytime there was going to be an election
